The CIRCLE CHART Music Awards 2022 to Open a New Chapter of K-pop Award Ceremonies

The newly rebranded ‘CIRCLE CHART Music Awards 2022’ is being held today (February 18th) at 6PM KST at the KSPO DOME, thus opening a new chapter of K-pop award ceremonies.

Hosted by a 2MC team of NCT’s DOYOUNG and MIYEON from (G)I-DLE, a total of 12 artists including aespa, BE`O, ENHYPEN, Kep1er, NMIXX, STAYC, TEMPEST, YENA, DOYOUNG (NCT), MIYEON ((G)I-DLE), BSS (SEVENTEEN), TOMORROW X TOGETHER (* in alphabetical order) will be appearing to fill the stage with various performances to captivate global viewers.

The event will also be honoring various industry professionals whose efforts have kept K-pop thriving throughout 2022, including composers, lyricists, performance directors, visual directors, and performing musicians.

Messaging regarding environmental awareness was repeated from last year’s event. The Awards participated in the ‘No Plastic’ campaign by providing eco-friendly water in paper packs and plant-based lids.

The ‘CIRCLE CHART Music Awards’ draws on objective data compiled by CIRCLE CHART, which aggregates data across both domestic and global music platforms as well as physical album distributors. Formerly known as the ‘Gaonchart Music Awards’, the event has been rebranded as ‘CIRCLE CHART Music Awards’. In July 2022, Korea’s premier pop music chart ‘gaonchart’ entered into official partnerships with various global platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, and Youtube to launch the ‘Global K-pop Chart’, which draws on K-pop related usage and traffic from all over the world.

Presented by CIRCLE CHART and co-sponsored by the KMCA and SPOTV, the ‘CIRCLE CHART Music Awards 2022’ will be broadcasted live for domestic viewers exclusively by SPOTV2 and STATV. In select areas of Southeast Asia the event will be broadcasted via the OTT service SPOTV NOW, and in all other areas (excluding the U.S. and Japan) by Idolplus, the LG U+ platform that specializes in everything idol-related.
